Tennessee Aquarium

For visitors of Fall Creek Falls State Park who are looking for a change of pace, a short drive to Chattanooga, Tennessee, and the Tennessee Aquarium are in order. This aquarium, ranked number one in the country, is home to over ten thousand animals.

Tennessee Aquarium is open every day of the year (except Thanksgiving and Christmas) from 10 am to 8 pm.

While visiting the aquarium, guests can explore tropical rainforests filled with macaws and fish, a swamp with alligators and snapping turtles, a recreation of East Tennessee’s own mountain ecosystem complete with otters, songbirds and native fish, a butterfly garden, coral reef, penguin’s rock where visitors can enjoy the antics of macaroni and gentoo penguins, and rivers and lakes of the world filled with everything from paddlefish to Amazonian Piranhas.

Guests can also enjoy one of several I-Max movies on a six story screen with state of the art sound system. A riverboat ride takes visitors on a thrilling river gorge journey at seventy-miles-an-hour. A new privilege for guests of all ages is the Backstage Pass which gives a VIP pass that allows guests to feed and play with several of the aquarium’s animals and fish and tour the ‘Keepers Only’ areas of the aquarium.

Whether wanting a break from the heat of Tennessee Summers, or just looking for some underwater adventure, visitors of Fall Creek Falls State Park will thoroughly enjoy a day spent at the Tennessee Aquarium in nearby Chattanooga.
