White County, with its rich heritage and history, lacked a place to bring together history buffs and the community until 2006 when the White County Bicentennial Committee moved forward on a plan for a Heritage Museum. After great public interest during the year-long Bicentennial Celebration enthusiasm for the idea grew, and the local White County Public Library happened to be available. With local support and a great location, the museum set up shop in late 2008. Under the direction of curators Bill and Peggie Hurteau, the museum is located the Historic Downtown District of beautiful Sparta, Tennessee.
