Middle Tennessee is home to some of the most breathtaking landscape found in the planet. With gentle mountains giving way to luscious valleys filled with waterfalls and caves, like those found at Fall Creek Falls State Park, visitors have no problem finding something to do. For those visitors who want to extend their nature-viewing to their meals, Cardinal Smokehouse Restaurant in nearby Pikeville, Tennessee, is the place to visit.
A sixth generation Middle Tennessean, owner Bobby Worthington and his family offer guests a great Southern meal at a reasonable price all while viewing magnificent wildlife photography. Wanting to showcase his art and his proud family’s home cooking, Worthington opened the Cardinal Smokehouse Restaurant to the people of his beloved Bledsoe County and visitors.
Guests can enjoy first-class Southern food while relaxing in a casual atmosphere. Tastefully decorated with Worthington’s photographs, the Cardinal Smokehouse Restaurant has a large stone fireplace, beautiful waterfalls outside and granite tiled floors with etches of cardinals in them. The restaurant is opened Thursday through Sunday for lunch and dinner, 10:30am to 9pm. Friday nights are seafood nights with catfish, frog legs and shrimp. Saturdays are reserved for all things hickory smoked such as chicken, brisket and ribs. Carryout is available on all items. Whether looking for a great meal after a day playing in the waterfalls at Fall Creek Falls State Park, or just wanting to see local Tennessean art, a visit to Cardinal Smokehouse is a must.
